As all my readers know from reading this blog, I have been using the techniques of both the Vampire Facial and Vampire Facelift to improve many people’s facial appearances. For the past several years, I have seen remarkable and long-lasting results.
Even more importantly, most of the patients who I have treated have reported improvements in their skin texture and tone. They have also noted drastic reduction in the appearance and number of their fine lines and wrinkles.
A recent medical study confirmed our relatively subjective opinions through a number of scientific measurements. During this particular study, 20 women ranging in age from 40-49 had platelet rich plasma injected into the right side of their faces.
The researchers also injected saline on the left side of the participants’ faces. Saline is merely salt water, so it was meant to have no real effect on the patients’ facial skin.
The researchers took external measurements of collagen and biopsy samples on both sides of the face right before making the PRP injections. 28 days after the injections, they made the same measurements again.
When the study concluded, the right side of each patient’s face (where the PRP was injected) showed a higher measured density of new collagen fibers than the left side. In fact, the PRP sides contained twice as many fibers as the saline side.
In addition, the collagen levels were 89% improved on the PRP side compared with before treatment. No serious side effects were detected during the study.
The study physicians concluded that PRP increases dermal collagen levels not only by growth factors, but it also improves the density of collagen fibers in the areas injected. Therefore, PRP injections should be considered an effective and safe procedure for facial skin rejuvenations.
