This morning, as I am writing this blog entry, I am flying off to sunny Orlando, Florida, but I will not be partaking of the sun or visiting Mickey, Shamu, or Harry Potter. I will be attending LASER 2015, which is the annual meeting of the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery.
LASER 2015 is the foremost yearly conference in the country where all the great minds in this field gather to present new findings and to review research and clinical applications in this area of medicine. I am particularly interested in new applications of technologies we already have.
I am also excited to see all the presentations on new and cutting-edge research. As you all know, especially if you watch any of the programs such as The Doctors or Dr. Oz, aesthetic medicine is prospering in terms of new developments all the time.
If there is one thing I have learned in my many years in medicine, it is that you have to keep learning and up to date because of all the changes that inevitably occur. In certain areas such as the aesthetic field, change is often rapid and keeping up with all the new developments is a full-time job.
For those of you who follow me on Twitter (@mainelaserskin), I will tweeting out snippets of information as I come across at this meeting. For those who use Twitter but do not currently follow me, I encourage you to do so by clicking on the link. If you don’t do Twitter at all, we will post on Facebook and/or in a newsletter the content of the tweets so no one misses out.
I hope that this meeting will further my knowledge as well as my ability to continue to bring cutting edge treatments to all in central Maine. This will be a quick trip, but a productive one. Orlando’s other famous residents will have to wait for another time.
