I have been performing Vampire Hair Regrowth Therapy for several months now with very good results. Those who have finished the 3-month course of injection treatment, in addition to the ongoing topical Rogaine and oral vitamin therapy, have seen significant hair regrowth and thickening of existing hair adjacent to the treated areas.
The science behind the Vampire Hair Therapy is the same as with the Vampire Facelift. The platelet-rich plasma (PRP) that I harvest from your blood through the blood-drawing and centrifuge process activates the stem cells in the treated area, and essentially stimulates the hair follicles to do what they are programmed to do.
For the Hair Regrowth, the PRP is injected directly into the scalp in a grid pattern over the entire hair-growth challenged area. Following the injections, PRP is also applied topically. On this step, I use a microneedling device.
The microneedling creates thousands of microscopic channels into the skin, allowing the PRP to penetrate by absorption into the dermal layer. The combination of the microneedling and PRP intensifies the skin’s natural healing process, which results in an even higher concentration of growth factors.
Since we are trying to stimulate rejuvenation of hair in the scalp, the patented sequence of treatment in and out of our office has had high success rates Even better, this procedure comes without the expense and scarring of more aggressive treatments such as hair transplants.
Generally, patients have redness and swelling over the treated scalp immediately following the procedure, which may last for several days. The general rule of thumb is that swelling will last 3 days, and regrowth from each procedure will start after about 3 weeks. However, I have had patients call and say that they noticed changes in the first week.
In order for this hair regrowth treatment to work best for you or someone you know, it is superlative that patients adhere to the following schedule within the procedure:
- 3 injection/microneedling sessions at least 1 month apart,
- Use of Rogaine twice daily (no more, and no less), and
- Daily doses of recommended vitamins.
Since this is a relatively new procedure, the longevity of the effect has not been proven yet. Having said that, I have been contact with doctors elsewhere in the country who have been doing this procedure for longer than I, and they report seeing continued effects for at least 1 year.
Although my treatments for hair regrowth so far have only been with men, this procedure is also performed on women, especially those with localized hair thinning or bald spots. Interestingly, women generally only require one treatment, as women do not have the issue of higher testosterone levels, one of the driving forces in male pattern baldness.
So, if you or anyone you know is bothered by premature baldness, hair thinning or bald spots, I would be glad to discuss more details of this exciting non-surgical approach to this common problem. Call Emily or Denise at (207) 873-2158 to set up a free consultation.
