Grow Thicker and Longer Eyelashes

latisse_promoIf you have always wanted to have longer, thicker and darker eyelashes but do not want to commit to ongoing sessions of eyelash extensions, there is a treatment solution by the name of Latisse.  Having eyelashes that are small, stubbly and generally inadequate is known medically as hypotrichosis, and Latisse is the prescription treatment for this condition.

Latisse is the brand name for bimatoprost, which was initially developed as a glaucoma medication.  When it was being prescribed for glaucoma and placed in the eyes by eyedrops, both patients and doctors noticed an unexpected (but positive) side effect of thicker and more lush eyelashes.

woman without and with makeupJust like hair that grows anywhere else on your body, eyelashes sprout from a root, grow for a period of time, and then fall out.  When that root begins to falter, the eyelashes don’t grow as well if at all, which is where Latisse comes in.

Although the exact mechanism of how Latisse works is not known, Latisse is believed to affect the growth, or anagen, phase of the eyelashes.  When the eyelash zone is exposed to Latisse, the length of the growth phase of eyelashes is extended and more hairs are stimulated to enter the growth phase.

Unfortunately, although this stimulation starts right away, your eyelashes will not grow magically overnight.  If you need great-looking lashes right away, by all means get extensions.  However, if you wish to grow your eyelashes naturally and you can be patient, Latisse will produce remarkable results with time.

Latisse is applied nightly to the upper eyelid in the same location where you would place your upper eye liner.  You will generally not notice much growth in the first month, as the growth begins gradually.  In the second month, you will start to see progressive growth with maximum eyelash length achieved in the 12-16 week range.

A recent study showed that after 16 weeks of consistent Latisse use, eyelash length of the study’s participants increased by 25%, thickness and fullness increased by 106%, and darkness of color increased by 18%.  Once your desired length, thickness and darkness of your eyelashes is achieved, you can start to reduce your usage to every other night.

Frequently, Latisse users will decrease to every third night or twice per week and still maintain the long term effect of this solution.  However, if you stop using Latisse for any reason, your eyelashes will eventually revert to their previous appearance over a period of several months.

If you are patient, you can experience longer, thicker and darker lashes.  Even better, these lashes will look natural because they really are yours.

Over the past several years since its FDA approval, Latisse has safely and effectively helped women experience real remarkable eyelash growth.  Many celebrities including Jenny McCarthy, Brooke Shields and Claire Danes have used Latisse and have even given the product their endorsement.

If you want to improve the appearance of your eyes with more prominent eyelashes, simply call us at (207) 873-2158 to request Latisse.  Because it is a prescription product, we will first need to discuss with you if Latisse is appropriate for you.

If you are renewing a previous purchase or understand the initial informed consent discussion, you can buy Latisse through our office or we can ship it to you directly.
