Botox Still Rules

botox_beforebotox_afterDespite the fact that Botox has been around in clinical use for well over a decade now, recent surveys show that Botox still rules the world as the single most popular medication in the field of medical aesthetics.  We here at Maine Laser Skin Care have experienced this upward trend for a number of years as well.

The International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery published the results of their ongoing global survey and found that Botox made up 38.4% of all non-surgical procedures with over 4.5 million injections performed worldwide in 2015.  As you might assume, women constituted the majority of the use of Botox at 86.5%.

You might be surprised to know, however, that men have also been increasingly adopting Botox.  Men now claim 13.5% of injections, which is up from single-digit percentage levels several years ago.

At my main office in Augusta, I have seen double-digit growth in Botox use every year.  We have already seen 18.6% growth in 2016 compared to the similar period last year.

Unlike in the early 2000s, when Botox was seen as a luxury to which only the “Hollywood types” would resort, Botox is now certainly already mainstream.  Ordinary people who previously declared that they “never would use Botox” are changing their tune.

botox_lipsBecause of the effectiveness of Botox in reducing and preventing what are known as dynamic wrinkles, people are opting for this non-surgical and minimally-invasive approach to stopping wrinkles in their tracks.  The younger demographic of my patient population is especially excited about Botox’s ability to prevent wrinkles that have developed in older members of their family tree.  The older demographic has overcome the concerns about appearing vain, and are growing to love this no-downtime approach to a more youthful and relaxed appearance.

In addition to the aesthetic uses, Botox has been found to be a safe and effective long-term treatment for medical conditions such as migraine headaches, hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating), and TMJ (temporomandibular joint) syndrome.  Having injected Botox into patients since 2003, I have found this medication to be one of safest and most effective treatments that I perform on a daily basis.

brilliant-distinctions-join_todayI have also enjoyed working with Allergan, the makers of Botox and Juvederm.  Allergan is a very forward-thinking company that continuously innovates and researches its products.

We frequently have special sales for Botox users, and another Botox sale will be coming soon.  Additionally, the accumulation of Brilliant Distinctions points results in further discounts.
